Wolves fans are absolutely furious with Fosun and Jeff Shi after hearing a fresh transfer update.
Vitor Pereira needs new signings, fast.
The Premier League season kicks off in a matter of days, and Wolves’ pre-season fixtures represented how far the squad is from being ready to compete.
Putting results aside, Wolves were concerning in pre-season, making the Manchester City clash on matchday one rather daunting.
It’s not as though the club aren’t trying to get new faces in, as Wolves have been linked to several players.
The problem that is frequently arising is that some targets aren’t wowed by the idea of making Molineux home, with Wolves target Matthis Abline the latest.

Wolves fans react to Matthis Abline transfer update with warning to Fosun
Abline has ‘said no’ to Wolves in reaction to the Old Gold’s plan to launch a bid to sign the striker from FC Nantes.
The update on Abline, who is valued at £43m, has left Wolves fans feeling deflated, with reaction on social media unanimously aimed at the club’s ownership.
Supporters are rightfully feeling let down by Fosun and chairman Jeff Shi, who were the topic of the uproar on X.
“Expected. Oh dear Fosun it’s almost as though decent players don’t want to simply exist in the Premier League,” one fan said in reaction to the Abline news.
“Why would any young talent want to join a feeder club with no ambition?”
“Haha how do you feel about that Jeff and @Fosun_Intl”
Fosun have been a problem at Wolves for some time, with the desire to make a self-sustainable model work leading the club further and further away from progressing up the table.
Fans are growing tired of the unambitious approach to the club’s leadership, with the Abline update pushing some over the edge.
“Remember when we signed Moutinho and Patricio in the same window now we can’t even attract young Ligue 1 players. Absolutely destined for relegation this season.”
“Getting rejected by players we’d “consider making an offer for” may actually be a new low for this club. It will only get worse.”
Others took aim at how poor Wolves have been at negotiating transfers this summer.
“So we were going to bid for a player that doesn’t want to join us and that the club would reject our offer………. That is proper Wolves that is.”
“I think this sums up our transfer dealings this window. The player says no to coming to Wolves AND the offer we were considering making was too low anyway!”
Attention was redirected to Shi and Fosun, with fans suggesting that relegation is looming because of the staggering lack of ambition to drive Pereira’s squad forward.
“We’re a banter club … time to just go back to the championship.”
Others drew attention to Shi’s remarkably disappointing comment about Wolves wanting to operate on a ‘slow and flat’ upwards curve.
A fan reminded Shi of his quote in March 2024, “If you want to win things, perhaps Wolves isn’t the team for you #JeffShi #Wolves #WWFC.”
Another echoed the chairman’s poor choice of words.
“Is it surprising that no-one wants to come to a club whose owner public states: “If you want Europe & to win things then maybe Wolves is not the club for you”. Time for a new man at the helm @Fosun_Intl & this time someone who is leader, not a negative bean counter.”
What Jeff Shi said about Wolves’ aspirations in 2024
Shi’s message to Wolves fans last year was difficult to digest.
In a club statement, the chairman said the following:
“I would rather the upward curve be slow and flat, than fast and zigzag.
“I think the key to stability is that the manager and club can grow together, support each other shoulder to shoulder on the long path. Sometimes one falls, the other picks them up, and we stride forward again.
“Fans also play an important role. If you only pursue trophies or consistent European football, Wolves might not be an ideal choice.”
Fans have not forgotten what Shi advised, particularly now that Wolves are suffering transfer snubs.
Things have to change if Wolves are to continue to fight in the top-flight, with last season’s relegation battle seemingly not alarming those at the top enough.
