‘Is he for real’ – Wolves fans livid at what Matheus Cunha has put on social media after Bournemouth red card

Wolves are out of the FA Cup after losing to Bournemouth – and fans are not happy at all with Matheus Cunha.

Wanderers will not be avenging that defeat to Coventry City last season, having come up short against the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium.

Wolves had won there last weekend but could not repeat that feat, losing on penalties.

Evanilson gave Bournemouth the lead in the game, with Sam Johnstone – who was criticised by Wolves fans – parrying a shot to the Brazilian.

But Matheus Cunha equalised in the second-half for Wolves with a stunning strike from range.

But Cunha would then turn from hero to zero, as he got sent off right at the end of extra-time or scrapping with Milos Kerkez.

Cunha lost his head and was given his marching orders, meaning he was unable to take a penalty in the shootout.

Matt Doherty and Boubacar Traore both missed for Wolves, with Bournemouth going through.

Vitor Pereira praised Doherty for showing personality, but he surely would not have been taking one had Cunha not lost his head and been sent off.

Cunha apologised on social media after his red card against Bournemouth. But fans are annoyed at something the Brazilian has done.

Fans were not impressed with Cunha losing his head against Bournemouth.

Cunha will now miss Wolves’ next few games at least, and the ramifications of that could be huge.

But Wolves fans are also irked by the fact that, before he posted his apology, Cunha had shared the video clip of his goal to his Instagram Story.

He shared one clip of the goal he scored, and then shared a picture from the FA Cup account of him celebrating.

Some don’t feel it was appropriate given his antics.

Not a good look from Cunha after Bournemouth red card

While Cunha’s goal against Bournemouth was of the highest quality, the decision to share it on social media is not a good look.

It’s unclear whether he himself shared it, or it was someone managing his account.

But ultimately Cunha let his team down by failing to control his emotions and getting that red card.

The apology that followed these posts didn’t come across as very meaningful, so it’s understandable why plenty of fans are not happy over this season.

Wolves have now got to try and get results without their talisman, who could well be missing for the next four games given this is his second red card of the season.
