Wolves are dissecting what went wrong against Aston Villa, with Yerson Mosquera’s injury a primary concern.
The Old Gold’s hunt for their first Premier League win of the season continues as Gary O’Neil was unable to secure a win over Aston Villa.
Wolves were leading at Villa Park until the 73rd minute, when things started to go downhill for the visitors.
Late goals from Ezri Konsa and Jhon Duran then sealed the direction of the points, with several talking points coming from the disappointing result.

Injury expert shares verdict on Wolves’ Yerson Mosquera concern
As the theme of O’Neil’s side collapsing in the second half continued, added pressure was put on Wolves as Yerson Mosquera was forced to withdraw.
The Colombian, who has impressed at Wolves so far this term, suffered a nasty injury in the 82nd minute, seeing him stretchered off in a lot of discomfort.
O’Neil admitted that Mosquera’s injury ‘doesn’t look good’, as the defender’s knee was caught in a worrying position during a duel with Morgan Rogers.
As the Midlands club wait on a diagnosis of the 23-year-old’s injury, one expert has shared their verdict on the matter.
On X, injury analyst Physio Scout shared possible outcomes to Mosquera’s incident, with a horrible possibility outlined.
Due to the shape of Mosquera’s knee and a ‘ripple’ of his calf, it’s suspected that the Colombian could have suffered an ACL injury or in the best case, an MCL injury.
In the instance of an ACL, the expert shared a timeframe of over nine months, which could be reduced to anything between two and 10 weeks ‘depending on severity’ if it’s an MCL blow.
Signing off with, “scans to confirm the injury severity. Hoping we’re wrong here,” the expert’s verdict does not make for pleasant reading for Wolves.
Gary O’Neil has a real issue in defence
While the primary focus will be on Mosquera’s wellbeing as the club await the verdict of the severity, O’Neil will be having nightmares over how his side looks without the centre-back.
After failing to recruit an experienced central defender in the summer, the Old Gold are now with just two fit senior centre-backs in the form of Craig Dawson and Santi Bueno.

As Toti Gomes recovers from injury and 18-year-old Bastien Meupiyou adapts to his new surroundings, O’Neil is left excruciatingly short at the back.
It’s the last thing that Wolves needed given their atrocious start to the season, with the squad recording just one point from a possible 15 in the Premier League, sitting rock bottom of the table.
