‘Incredible’: Matheus Cunha simply blown away by Wolves man since he came to Molineux

Matheus Cunha has lavished praised on Wolves manager Gary O’Neil in a new interview.

Wanderers have had a rocky start to the new season, but have now taken seven points from seven games in the Premier League.

Last weekend’s win over Manchester City was absolutely huge.

And that result appears to have really changed the mood at Molineux.

Wolves take on Aston Villa today and are hoping to make it back to back wins – and Cunha believes in the man trying to mastermind another victory…

He has acknowledged that he arrived under difficult circumstances.

But there is a confidence there from the Brazilian that O’Neil can get Wolves where they need to be.

He said: “It’s great… he came at a very challenging time, where there were more questions than answers, and he handled the situation well.

“Now, little by little, he’s been moulding the team in his image, and I feel he’s a guy who is there to help everyone out.

“He’s a lot more than a manager, I think he’s an incredible person, who is always trying to help us and we take that with us onto the pitch; people like him infuse you with extra energy.”

O’Neil clearly highly respected

This must be nice for O’Neil to hear from one of the biggest personalities in the Wolves dressing room.

Clearly, he really has the respect of these players.

Captain Max Kilman also spoke very highly of him recently. He said that the training had been phenomenal.

His appointment came around very quickly, but the players have taken to him which is really good.

There was real potential for things to go south following the decision by Julen Lopetegui to walk away, but O’Neil has done a decent job so far.
