Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has praised Fabio Silva ahead of the club’s first Premier League game of the season.
Wanderers are in action against Manchester United tomorrow night at Old Trafford.
And it has been a chaotic week leading up to the game, with Julen Lopetegui having left the club on Tuesday.
The Spaniard left, but Gary O’Neil has come in as his replacement, with the club having identified him shortly after the Celtic game, which is where Lopetegui told Matt Hobbs that he wanted to leave.
O’Neil has a huge job on his hands.
He’s had just a few days with the players to prepare for the clash with the Red Devils.
But there is one player who has already caught his eye.
Gary O’Neil praises Fabio Silva ahead of Wolves opener against Manchester United
O’Neil spoke in his press conference about the state of play following his arrival at the club.
He gave a good word on Max Kilman, who has been named the new captain at Molineux.

He also spoke about Sasa Kalajdzic, who is still lacking match sharpness going into the new campaign.
O’Neil also talked up Fabio Silva, whom he thinks is looking quite sharp in the short time he has been at the club.
He said (via Wolves official): “He’s had a good pre-season. I’ve watched all the games and he’s looked lively, he looks fit, so I’m pleased with where he is and where he’s at. Obviously, he’s only had two days working with me so it’s hard to tell from that spell.
“But from the pre-season games and how bright he’s looked, he looks to be a great asset for us, and I look forward to working with him.
“From where I’m sat now, I expect Fabio to be a big part of what we do this season. But it’s the same with a lot of the lads, to be fair, they’ve had fairly good pre-seasons, look sharp, look fit, and obviously it’s my job to keep improving that.
“I’m really pleased with the attacking players and also the boys at the back and how solid they’ve looked because they haven’t conceded too many goals in pre-season, so I look to keep both of those things moving in the right direction.”
Boost for Silva in his hope for minutes
This must be nice for Silva to hear from the new manager.
It was recently suggested by journalist Liam Keen that Silva would still be open to leave the club this summer.
And one of the reasons for this is that he wants to be a ‘main man’.

It sounds like O’Neil has been impressed with what he has seen from Silva since coming in.
Given O’Neil’s comments about Kalajdzic tiring in training, it’s possible that the youngster could be in line for some decent minutes in these opening games of the season.
