Wolves officially announced the signing of Jhon Arias from Fluminense on Thursday, and the Colombian has spoken for the first time since his move was finalised.
The Colombian’s switch to Wolves was confirmed by Fluminense a few days ago, but now, the 27-year-old has officially signed a four-year contract at Molineux with the option of a further 12 months.
Arias was emotional after saying goodbye to Fluminense, the club that ultimately gave him the platform to follow in Andre’s footsteps and fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.
There were even suggestions that Arias had taken a pay cut to join Wolves, something that is a rarity in the modern game.
Now that Arias has been confirmed as Wolves’ newest number 10 following Matheus Cunha’s exit, the exciting winger has spoken for the first time.

Jhon Arias sends message to Wolves fans as transfer confirmed
Ahead of his switch to Wolverhampton, not even the great Cristiano Ronaldo could sway him into joining Al-Nassr on mega-money, as the Colombian international always had his mind set on linking up with Vitor Pereira.
Earlier this week, Arias spoke about his move to Wolves, offering praise for Pereira and midfield duo Andre and Joao Gomes.
The diminutive attacker has now addressed the Wolves fans directly for the first time, and what he said will leave them feeling excited about what he can achieve in gold.
“Hi Wolves fans, this is Jhon Arias,” he said in a translated message. “I want to show you how happy I am to be here and to be part of this club. See you soon at Molineux, and I’m excited for what will be a great season for all of us. I send you a hug, and god bless you.”
The desire, hunger and quality of Pereira’s newest recruit point towards Arias becoming a cult hero at Molineux, and hopefully, someone who can replace Cunha’s magic in the final third.

Arias’s availability is his best ability
After becoming one of the leading lights in Brazil, Arias has earned his opportunity to showcase his talents in England, especially after impressing against Manchester City in 2023.
Not only does the Colombian possess some incredible attributes, including his turn of pace, upper body strength and creativity, but he’s also ever-present for club and country.
Player | Most minutes played in 2024 |
Jules Kounde | 5,872 |
Jhon Arias | 5,599 |
Federico Valverde | 5,573 |
Virgil van Dijk | 5,523 |
Nicolas Otamendi | 5,449 |
In 2024, only Barcelona’s Jules Kounde played more minutes than Arias in the whole of world football, telling of the remarkable condition he keeps himself in.
Availability can be regarded as the best ability any player can have, as ultimately, being consistently available for selection beats any individual who is constantly injured, no matter if they’re world-class or not.
So, as he embarks on the next chapter of his career, Arias will hope to continue keeping hold of his impeccable injury record.
