Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright was seriously impressed with Wolverhampton Wanderers star Hwang Hee-chan last night.

On Match of the Day on BBC One, the former Arsenal striker was speaking about Hwang’s role in Wolves’ 2-1 victory over Newcastle United yesterday.

The South Korean striker scored both goals for Wolves. Currently, he is their leading scorer in the Premier League with three goals.

Speaking on BBC One’s Match of the Day last night (11:10pm), Wright said: “He has got everything [Hwang], he has got pace, skill, touch and awareness and he’s always driving to get into the box.”

Wright likens Hwang to former Wolves star

It was not just Hwang who impressed Ian Wright.

Raul Jimenez assisted both of the goals, and the Mexican striker got praise from the former Arsenal star as well.

The pundit likened it to Jimenez’s previous relationships with current star Adama Traore and ex-Wolves forward Diogo Jota.

In fact, Hwang, known as ‘The Bull’ repeated a feat yesterday last achieved in a Wolves shirt by Jota, now at Liverpool

The Bull became the first Wolves player to score in both halves of a Premier League game since Jota all the way back in January 2019.

If Hwang can replicate the goals that Jota scored for Wolves he will be a roaring success at Molineux.

In his three seasons in the Black Country, Jota scored 44 goals in all competitions.

Currently Hwang has three in his first four games. Although he has a long way to go, he has made an excellent start.

Wolves must exercise option on Hwang

When the South Korean international signed on loan, it came with the option for Wolves to purchase the star permanently.

With the price tag at just £12 million, the decision to buy him seems to be a no brainer.

With Wolves seeming more reluctant to spend, securing his future at Molineux is not a forgone conclusion.

Bearing that in mind, Hwang must continue to display these top performances at Molineux.

If he does, he will give the Wolves hierarchy little choice.
