‘I think’: Julen Lopetegui makes prediction about how Wolves are going to do in the PL this season

Julen Lopetegui has been speaking about his exit from Wolves again – and shared how he thinks they might get on this season.

It has been two months since the Spaniard walked away from the Wanderers.

There had been rumblings for some time that he was not happy.

The financial situation at the club had become clear, and Lopetegui felt he could now work to his best level as a result.

He left, and Gary O’Neil was appointed as his successor.

Lopetegui has previously spoken about leaving the club and how difficult he found it.

He has now provided a summary of his departure, and had one last message for the club and its fans…

He was asked about his decision to go.

He said: “In the past I have talked a lot about this. I can make a summary. We have finalised, wish them the best, me for the club and the club for me.

“It was a football decision we have taken, for a lot of reasons that I prefer not to talk about. I prefer to look to the future. If you ask me, it was a very lovely story. We accepted a big risk in a very difficult moment. But in the end I have to say ‘Thank you’ for them, for all of them, the fans, the club. For giving me the chance to feel that in the 10 months. I wish the best for them.”

“I wish them all the best. I think they are going to do a good season. I am going to try and make my way.”

Lopetegui exit complicated

There are still some Wolves fans out there who are not happy with the way Lopetegui left the club.

The interview he did with Guillem Balague was something that did get people’s backs up, including some Wolves officials according to reports.

It’s clear though that Lopetegui did really enjoy his time at Molineux and he sounds genuine in wishing the club well.

We don’t know everything that happened behind the scenes.

But he decided he wanted out, and Wolves are now onto a new chapter. And it has started fairly well, with O’Neil getting some decent results and saying the right things most of the time.
