Andre Onana spoke about the penalty claim Wolves had waved away in last night’s game between Manchester United and Wolves.
Wanderers came away from Old Trafford with nothing to show for a brilliant performance last night.
Wolves played some superb stuff at times.
Many chances were created, and the players ran their socks off.
But United ran out 1-0 victors thanks to a Raphael Varane header.
Wolves had a very strong argument for a penalty right at the end when Onana clattered into Sasa Kalajdzic when he tried to claim a cross.
But it was waved away by referee Simon Hooper and his decision was upheld by the VAR.
After the game, a sheepish Onana reacted to the incident.
Andre Onana reacts to the penalty claim against him in Man United vs Wolves
After the game, Onana was interviewed and his response to incident involving him and Kalajdzic was laughable.
He told Sky Sports: “No, totally no. You make decisions. Sometimes you are right sometimes you are wrong. I made the decision and am responsible for everything. For me it was just contact between two big guys. I was calm, I knew nothing would happen.
The most important thing was for us to win and I’m really happy for the victory.”
Pushed for whether he was confident that it wouldn’t have been given a penalty, Onana replied ‘Of course I was completely confident’.
The goalkeeper looked very uncomfortable as he answered, and then gave a wry smile
Onana knows he and Man United got away with one
Listening to Onana’s response here, you can tell very clearly that he knows he got away with one.
It is absolutely baffling that Wolves were not awarded a late spot-kick last night.
The gripe is more so with the VAR, who had time to look at the incident again.

It’s beyond belief that Onana’s challenged was deemed fine.
Gary O’Neil has received an apology from Jon Moss of the PGMOL. But it’s just not good enough.
