Mateus Mane is a name we will be hearing a lot more in 2026, following the Wolves youngster’s exciting rise at Molineux.
Mateus Mane enjoyed a special day on Saturday, as he took centre stage of Wolves’ first Premier League win of the season against West Ham.
Mateus Mane is said to be contracted to Wolves until 2029, not 2027! Thoughts, Wolves fans?
It's been claimed today that Wolves tied him down to an extended deal when he turned 18 👀
Wolves won 3-0 at Molineux, and gave the performance that many felt had been coming after positive displays against Liverpool and Manchester United.
It was a great moment for Rob Edwards, who by many accounts has been working his socks off to turn things around.
There has been a clear improvement, with a number of players benefiting from his arrival.
Mane is certainly one such player, and Hwang Hee-chan gave a glowing verdict of his teammates after Saturday’s win.
Hwang Hee-chan tips Mateus Mane to become best Premier League player

Mane’s confidence has been completely refreshing to see.
He’s come into this team and breathed new life into it, and it seems it has been infectious for the other players.
Mane’s rise at Wolves is so exciting, and there was welcome news today when it was claimed that Wolves actually had Mane’s contract extended when he turned 18.
It seems he’ll be here for the long term, but hopefully Wolves can stay and Mane can continue playing in the top-flight.
Because Mane – who was the runaway winner of Molineux News’ Talking Points poll for best player against West Ham – is someone who more than belongs in the Premier League in Hwang Hee-chan’s eyes.
The South Korean told Wolves’ media team after the game on Saturday: “He’s just unbelievable. He’s a top player, a top talent. He’s just 18. We always say every day in training, ‘You are just 18?!”
“We are just surprised. He can show more things, in the game also I push him every single game. When he’s next to me I push him and I say ‘Mane, go go go, you can do it, you can do more’. He follows very well, and other players also. He listens. I think he can be the best player, maybe in the league also. He’s a top talent and a top person also.”
Mane clearly has the respect of the Wolves dressing room
This is quite the verdict from Hwang, who clearly rates Mane extremely highly.
Obviously fans are very impressed with what they’ve seen from the teenager on the pitch. But Hwang trains with him day in, day out, so is well placed to make this assessment.
It is fantastic to hear such high praise for the Wolves gem, who it’s safe to say has made his mark on the other players given what Hwang said.
Do you agree with Jermain Defoe about Mateus Mane? 🔥
The teenager has been a breath of fresh air…
Rob Edwards also suggested Mane is already showing leadership, which is bound to command the respect of his teammates.
It has been a whirlwind couple of months for Mane, so hopefully he’ll be supported to ensure he takes everything in his stride. Because nurturing this remarkable talent is vital.
