Hwang Hee-chan has now delivered his verdict on if Wolves can survive relegation with Rob Edwards

Hwang Hee-chan has provided his thoughts on the chance of Wolves surviving relegation this season after Rob Edwards’ appointment.

With the Old Gold eight points from safety, you could not fault anyone for having a pessimistic outlook on how this season will unfold.

The arrival of Rob Edwards has been made with hopes of a remarkable escape, but the job may already be too insurmountable for any manager.

Former Wanderer Steve Bull has issued a rallying show of support for Edwards, and the legendary striker is not the only one still having confidence.

While many Wolves fans have already resigned themselves to thinking about the Championship next season, there is still hope around Molineux.

Hwang Hee-chan is one of those still believing the Old Gold can be a Premier League team next season.

The South Korean has pointed himself out as a senior player, and the Wanderers will need that experience to turn things around.

Hee-chan said via Express and Star, “I’ve played here for five years, and for many years we’ve started like this, but every time we bounce back and get a good position at the end of the season. I trust us a lot and think we can do it.

“It’s difficult to say to fans that we apologise, and I can just say we will keep working hard, and I will give my best on the pitch, I promise.

“Not just me, everyone is doing it, and we’re really excited for the new manager to come. We won’t give 100 per cent; we will give 120 per cent for sure. We trust each other.”

The next few matches will no doubt be tough for Rob Edwards and Wolves, and fans are far from confident they can get the results they need.

One positive is Edwards usually starts strong in each of his managerial roles based on his job history.

Are you confident Rob Edwards will help Wolves avoid relegation?

Hwang Hee-chan has looked better in central positions for Wolves this season

Hwang Hee-chan is an experienced professional, and the South Korean will know he can perform at a higher level than he has done this season.

However, that quality player that Wolves fans have seen over the years is still there.

Glimpses of his talent have popped up at moments, and those have come when the forward had been deployed in central areas.

Across all competitions, Hwang has one goal and one assist for the Old Gold this season, and as you likely guessed, they came when he was asked to play in the middle of attack.

His goal against Everton was a well-timed run and an exquisite finish.

At just 29 years old, the South Korean still has a lot left in the tank, and perhaps a more permanent switch to the central areas could revitalise him.

Rob Edwards does typically like to use two strikers up top, and a combination of Hwang Hee-chan alongside either Jorgen Strand Larsen or Tolu Arokodare could be interesting.
