Hwang Hee-chan hails key Wolves man who’s been ‘just amazing’ this season

Hwang Hee-Chan has been an absolute revelation this season for Wolves, scoring eight goals already, and now he’s praised Gary O’Neil.

Wolves have enjoyed quite a solid start to the season, defying pre-season predictions which had them as relegation candidates. A massive part of that has been their attacking duo of Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-Chan.

Neto has been an assist machine while Hwang simply can’t stop scoring. Neto has been injured since a 2-2 draw with Newcastle over a month ago, but is expected back soon.

Hwang meanwhile has been on fire with his highlight probably coming when he scored the winner at Molineux against Manchester City.

Both players however owe a lot of their form to the team and in particular one man who has been brilliant since arriving at the club. Now, Hwang has been praising just that.

Hwang praises Gary O’Neil

Speaking on Football Focus for the BBC, Hwang was asked about his incredible goal scoring this season. In response he was humble and pointed out the team and the hardwork thats put in to achieve this.

He also lauded Gary O’Neil for his role: “Every goal comes from teamwork, we work hard, we train hard and our coach is just amazing.”

Under O’Neil compared to last season under Julen Lopetegui and Bruno Lage, Hwang has already doubled his scoring output despite playing half the games.

Hwang has been so good that he now seems nailed on to be awarded a new contract at the club with talks between Hwang and Wolves underway.

Hwang and O’Neil are the perfect duo for Wolves

Hwang as a player is technically brilliant, has a high work-rate and is becoming extremely clinical in front of goal, all things which O’Neil wants from his striker.

The South Korean international has exploded under O’Neil and finally looks like the exciting forward who was brought from RB Leipzig for a fee of £13m.

That now looks to be a bargain as he becomes ever more integral to the Wolves system and his manager.
