Hwang Hee-chan entered a fairly exclusive club for Wolves after goal and assist vs West Ham

Wolves picked up their first win of the Premier League season Saturday with Hwang Hee-chan making a big impact.

After picking up a point against Manchester United, Rob Edwards got his first taste of victory as his players turned in the best performance of the season.

Wolves did all the damage in the first-half, scoring three times against a beleaguered Hammers.

Jhon Arias opened the scoring, before Hwang Hee-chan and Mateus Mane also got on the scoresheet.

Young Mane has been picked out for a lot of praise following the game, and certainly, the teenager gave an outstanding performance as a number eight.

But it was also great to see Hwang playing so well, and his efforts against the Hammers mean he became part of an exclusive club.

Hwang is one of a few players to have benefitted from the arrival of Edwards in November.

The South Korean had been struggling in the early part of the campaign, with fans feeling he needed to be offering more given his status as an experienced player.

Just lately though, he’s starting to look better and against West Ham, he gave his best display of the season by far.

He put the ball on a plate for Arias to score and set Wolves on their way, before stepping up to take the penalty that Mane won.

Hwang’s goal and assist vs West Ham takes him to 30 G/A for Wolves in the Premier League… 👏

Hwang missed his last spot-kick against West Ham in the Carabao Cup in August, so he showed guts to step up against the same opposition at Molineux to score.

So, two goal involvements for Hwang, which means he now has 30 in total for Wolves in the Premier League.

That puts him in an exclusive club, with only Raul Jimenez (58) and Matheus Cunha (42) having made more than 30 for the Old Gold in the Premier League.

Pedro Neto, Ruben Neves and Kevin Doyle have the same tally as Hwang with 30 each.

Much more like it from Hwang

It was great to see Hwang making an impact for Wolves again and it’s something we need to see more of.

He appears to have benefitted from playing more centrally as opposed to out wide, which demands that he tracks back.

Hwang is a player who needs to be in around the opposition box, not in his own half.

Has that Hwang Hee-chan performance changed your perception about the South Korean?

He rolled back the years with that display 🔥

He looks to be building a good understanding with Tolu Arokodare at the moment and hopefully, they can keep playing together.

Edwards revealed Hwang went off with a calf injury against West Ham, but hopefully it’s nothing too serious.

If Wolves are to make a miraculous escape from the relegation zone, then a Hwang purple patch sure would help the team’s cause.
