Hugo Bueno shares what people kept suggesting to him about Wolves while he was at Feyenoord, he disagreed

Hugo Bueno kept a close eye on Wolves during his loan spell with Feyenoord.

The Spaniard has just finished a productive season over in the Netherlands, and discussions will now take place regarding the next steps for him.

Of course, Wolves have just sold Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City.

In theory, that opens the door for him to potentially play regularly for Wolves next season.

That is something Bueno would want, as he loves Wolves and sees the club as his home.

Vitor Pereira has hinted he’s excited to look at Bueno in pre-season for Wolves, and it would certainly be nice to see him come back into the fold.

Bueno has kept informed on Wolves while he’s been away, and recently admitted there was one thing he never feared for the club.

At the start of the calendar year, things were looking dicey for Wolves.

Gary O’Neil had been sacked by the club for a run of poor results and performances, and Vitor Pereira was appointed as his successor.

Little was really known about Pereira, other than that he had been at a lot of clubs.

But he quickly established himself in the Premier League, and guided Wolves to safety with ease in the end.

And Wolves surviving so comfortably comes as no real surprise to Bueno, who has revealed he never once feared that the club would go down, despite people suggesting that to him.

He said: “I’ve been tracking (Wolves) a lot, since the first day.

“I remember when they were struggling. People were saying ‘Oh they maybe can go down’ or whatever.

“Listen, I had no doubt about the quality of this team. I know all the teammates and I knew they were going to show what they can do. I’ve been in touch with the guys that have been there last season, especially the ones that speak Spanish you know? They were asking me a lot how it (Feyenoord loan) has been. And also me to them.”

Wolves cannot be fighting relegation again next season

Some fans were perhaps not as confident as Bueno was about Wolves staying up last season, especially around the time O’Neil was sacked.

Confidence was on the floor at Molineux, and emotions were constantly spilling over.

So there was a very reasonable chance that Wolves could have gone down had they got their managerial appointment wrong.

Thankfully, Pereira instantly recognised what he needed to do to turn things around at Wolves, and went about his work with efficiency and passion, winning over the supporters in no time.

It is now paramount that Wolves have a good summer so they do not find themselves in that position again.

With Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri having been sold, there is potential for Wanderers to struggle.

But it need not be that way if Wolves – who have just had a recruitment restructure – can make smart decisions and spend wisely.
