Some had feared that he would miss the game with the Red Devils to go and link up with his country.

But according to The Athletic, an agreement has been reached for Premier League clubs to release their players from January 3.

Tim Spiers has shared the report, pointing out that Saiss will be available. He adds that he could miss only a couple of games for Wolves in the best-case scenario.

With Wolves in action at 5.30pm on January 3, Saiss would presumably play and then head off either after the game or the following morning. The tournament starts on January 9 with hosts Cameroon in action against Burkina Faso.

Saiss being available to face Manchester United his a huge boost for Bruno Lage.

The 31-year-old has been in wonderful form this season.

Featuring in a back three along with Max Kilman and Conor Coady, Saiss has been superb and helped Wolves to become much more difficult to beat.

At the time of writing, Wolves have the third-best defensive record in the Premier League behind Manchester City and Chelsea.

Saiss has started every league game for Wolves so far this term.

Some expected him to feature a bit less following the arrival of Lage.

But that has not been the case, with Willy Boly having more fitness issues.

Incidentally, the update does also concern Boly. He was called up by the Ivory Coast. But he likely won’t feature against United anyway due to not being fully fit.

Welcome news about Romain Saiss for Wolves fans and Bruno Lage

Manchester United have lots of threats.

They may be a level below the likes of City, Chelsea and Liverpool, but they are still a dangerous outfit.

Having Saiss available is really good news for Wolves.

The £3 million star has really nailed down that place on the left of the back three, and he works really well between Rayan Ait-Nouri/Fernando Marcal and Conor Coady.

Wolves will want revenge on United after the reverse fixture.

There’s a much better chance of that happening with Saiss in the team.
