There is now major uncertainty surrounding Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui.
Last night, reports surfaced that Wanderers have been speaking to Gary O’Neil about him potentially replacing the Spaniard if he quits.
Lopetegui has been angered by the club’s financial situation, which was seemingly not made clear to him when he first arrived.
The former Sevilla boss recently sat down with Guillem Balague to express his frustrations.
This, after Lopetegui had gone away to consider his future earlier in the summer.
It remains to be seen if he will be in the dugout for next Monday’s game against Manchester United.
Wolves players uncertain over Julen Lopetegui with Spaniard potentially set to walk
The Daily Mail have reported on the situation this morning.

They say that the Wolves players are currently feeling very uncertain about the situation with Lopetegui.
The manager is due to take training late this afternoon at Compton as normal, after the players were given a short break after the game with Rennes on Saturday.
The timing of all this just couldn’t be worse for Wolves.
Wanderers put in a fabulous display against Rennes at the weekend and many fans were starting to feel optimistic despite a frustrating summer in the transfer market.
Lopetegui departing before the United clash would be cause for serious concern.
A very worrying time
So Lopetegui’s future at Wolves is now more doubtful than ever.
The club holding talks with O’Neil definitely gives the impression that the club feel there is a good chance Lopetegui will walk.
It’s one thing to have a list of potential replacements. But it’s another to actually speak to a potential candidate.

Lopetegui is obviously unhappy and why wouldn’t he be? Seemingly, he has had the goalposts completely moved.
But it is a wonder why Lopetegui didn’t go at the end of the season when he was considering his future.
Some have suggested he may now only be sticking around so that he gets the sack and therefore receives a pay-off.
