How Vitor Pereira feels about Wolves sack as payout claim made after recent new contract

Wolves have officially sacked Vitor Pereira after a terrible run of results.

The Portuguese has left his post, along with all his staff, following yesterday’s dismal defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The writing has been on the wall since those unsavoury scenes at Molineux after the defeat to Burnley.

But the Wolves hierarchy gave Pereira one more week to turn things around. Wolves would then lose to Chelsea and Fulham.

There is some surprise at the sacking given Fosun have been so keen for Pereira to turn things around, and the fact they gave him a new contract in September.

But clearly yesterday’s defeat to Fulham was one bad result and performance too far, and the search for his successor will now commence.

Fans will now likely be hearing various things about the end of Pereira’s reign at Molineux.

Of course, given how things have been on the pitch, it is safe to assume that there has been a lot of stress and tension behind the scenes.

In the summer, we heard Pereira talk about his need for new signings in order to compete.

In the end, it was a poor window for Wolves, with the new recruits not having any Premier League experience. And Pereira actually has to accept some blame for that, as he had the final say on new recruits.

Now, a big claim has been made about Pereira and how he really felt just as the new season was about to start.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports on X: “Understand Pereira regrets not leaving at the start of the season, but the manner in which Wolves finished last campaign persuaded him to continue despite fearing the squad lacked quality following high-profile departures, including Matheus Cunha.”

Pereira won’t get full compensation

Interestingly, Jacobs also provides word on Pereira’s compensation.

Of course, Wolves handed Pereira a new deal only in September.

But in that contract was a clause that means Pereira will actually not get a full payout following his sacking.

He said: “Pereira was informed this morning of the news. He will not be paid out for his entire contract due to a clause when he signed his new deal.”
