How Ruben Neves reacted after Wolves scored last-gasp equaliser against Brighton

Wolves came from behind to draw 2-2 with Brighton at the Amex Stadium in a result that could prove to be the turning point for the club this season.

After losing right at the death against Manchester City the previous weekend, the shoe was on the other foot this time as Matheus Cunha popped up in the 93rd minute to equalise for Wolves.

Wolves struggled in the first-half, and went in 1-0 down at the break after a mistake by Jose Sa led to a goal by Danny Welbeck.

Brighton got a second through Evan Ferguson in the 85th minute and that looked like the end for Gary O’Neil’s side.

But the players never gave up and after Rayan Ait-Nouri turned in a corner, Cunha then sent the away end crazy with a deflected strike, after superb work by Tommy Doyle preventing a four-on-one attack at the other end.

After the game, Ruben Neves was among those to react to the day’s events.

Neves left Wolves over a year ago now to play in the Saudi Pro League.

But the former Molineux maestro is still hugely invested in the club and always looks out for his former team’s results.

He was as ecstatic as the supporters on Saturday, with Wolves making a post on Instagram that included the caption ‘CUNHA WITH A 93RD MINUTE EQUALISER’.

Neves couldn’t contain his joy, responding ‘YES 💪🏼’.

The goal by Cunha to earn Wolves a point will undoubtedly have cheered Neves up. Al-Hilal recently confirmed that Neves will be out of action for around three to four weeks after picking up a knee injury.

The best moment of Wolves’ season

Wolves deserve tremendous credit for coming from two goals down to rescue a point against Brighton, who everyone knows are a great Premier League outfit these days.

The goal by Ferguson would have been a real sickener for the players, who had been much improved from the first-half.

So to overcome that and take a point is really impressive.

Undoubtedly, Cunha’s goal is the best moment of Wolves’ tough season so far – and it has the potential to be a catalyst now moving forward.

The fixture list is about to ease up, although every game in the Premier League is tough these days.

But Wolves now need to be getting some wins on the board, and the performance against Brighton will give everyone real encouragement.
