Matheus Cunha is the talk of the town at the moment amid a real purple patch for Wolves.
The Brazilian has been the standout player for Wolves this season, but has really gone to another level over the last month or so.
Cunha starred in Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Fulham providing two more goals and an assist for Joao Gomes.
Cunha was compared to Dennis Bergkamp by pundit Ashley Williams for the way he took his first goal, plucking the ball out of the air and finishing impudently past Bernd Leno.
Gary O’Neil hailed Cunha’s incredible quality after the win over Fulham, and compliments for him have been plentiful since the game, with Alan Shearer also suggesting Cunha’s been one of the players of the season.
It’s Bournemouth up next for Wolves – and Cunha may well achieve something pretty significant if he plays well.
Matheus Cunha could become Wolves’ first-ever Premier League Player of the Month winner

It may surprise some fans to know that Wolves have never produced a winner for Player of the Month in the Premier League.
Wolves have had some terrific players down the years, such as Diogo Jota, Raul Jimenez, Ruben Neves and Pedro Neto.
But no one wearing the old gold shirt has actually ever won an official Premier League Player of the Month award before.
The Premier League began all the way back in 1994. Wolves are currently playing their 11th season in the top-flight, but have sadly never produced a Player of the Month winner.
But that could potentially change soon, with Cunha surely standing a very good chance of winning. So far this month, he’s scored three goals and made three assists, and helped drag Wolves out of the relegation zone.
He will almost certainly be nominated, and fans will hope he can go where no Wolves man has been before and actually win.
Cunha has golden chance to be November Player of the Month, as Bournemouth beckon
Cunha already has a very good chance of being named Player of the Month for November, but one gets the feeling that he could do with one last big display against Bournemouth to seal it.
Mo Salah has four goals and one assist for Liverpool in the league this month, and he will likely be the Brazilian’s biggest competition.
The good news though is that Salah’s next game against Manchester City falls on December 1, so whatever he does in that game won’t count for November, which gives Cunha a big opportunity.

Appearances – 3 |
Goals – 3 |
Assists – 3 |
Player of the Match awards – 3 |
Wins – 2 |
Draws – 1 |
Losses – 0 |
Cunha has scored one goal previously against Bournemouth – in the game at the Vitality in October last season – and few would bet against him finding the net this weekend given how well he’s playing right now.
It would be amazing to see him do something that no Wolves player has ever done before, and Cunha winning would also be a great reflection on Gary O’Neil, who has really brought the best out of the South American.
That said there is one potential downside to him winning, and that would be that it would draw a lot more attention from other clubs.
