Wolves’ dismal season continued last season, with another defeat against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Fans were left aghast by Wolves’ display against Forest, with so many players showing a complete lack of intent and confidence.
While Wanderers did OK defensively, there was hardly any attacking threat throughout, with Jhon Arias squandering the one golden chance they did create.
This says it all about the situation at Wolves right now 🗣️
Rob Edwards pulled no punches after the game, and even admitted he asked his players at half-time if they were scared.
Edwards has walked into a house on fire and realistically, he is not going to keep this team in the Premier League.
It was admirable that he took the job, but there are simply too many things to fix and it would truly be a miracle if the club stayed up.
For most people now, it’s actually about just how many points Wolves will put up this season – with that Derby County record becoming a bigger and bigger concern.
Derby County had more points after 14 games in 2007/08 than Wolves do now
So far, Wolves have got two points on the board, and are still winless.
It is the worst start by a club in the history of the Premier League. Sheffield United also accrued two points from 14 games in 2020/21, but Wolves are five goals worse off.
But the record that many Wolves fans are now growing genuinely concerned about is the one that Derby County hold, set at the end of the 2007/08 season.

The disastrous campaign for the Rams saw them finished with just 11 points. Their record was one win, eight draws and 29 defeats.
Wolves fans know things are terrible at the moment. But is there actually any danger that Wolves could break Derby’s record?
Well in the 2007/08 season, Derby actually managed to get six points on the board after 14 matches, a whole four more than Wolves currently have.
Wolves have scored two more goals than Derby after 14 games. But Derby had conceded 33 after 14 games, whereas Wolves have done slightly better, shipping 29.
So Derby’s goal difference was -28, compared to Wolves’ -22 now.
Fosun to blame for appalling Wolves mess

If Wolves actually end up breaking Derby’s record, and let’s be very clear, that is a distinct possibility based on how things have gone this season, then it will be entirely the fault of Fosun.
Yes, the likes of Domenico Teti and Vitor Pereira did a lot of damage with their recruitment in the summer, but ultimately, some of the players that were brought in were not first-choice signings.
And ultimately, Fosun’s transfer MO and recruitment strategy has left Wolves with one of the worst squads ever assembled.
The damage has already been done😡
Wolves were perhaps always going to lose influential players this season, because that’s just how it goes.
But Fosun grossly underestimated the impact this would have, and clearly did not plan appropriately.
At least if Wolves do actually break the Derby points record, it would be an absolutely shocking reflection on the owners, and perhaps be something that finally forces them out.
