How long Wolves really expect Joao Gomes to stay as new contract details emerge

Wolves were delighted to announce that Joao Gomes signed a new contract at Molineux.

After Matheus Cunha expressed his desire to leave Wolves, the Old Gold were able to share the positive news of a fresh deal for Gomes

Gomes and Yerson Mosquera penned new contracts at Wolves, with the midfielder extending his stay to 2030.

The Brazilian arrived at Wolves in January 2023 and hasn’t looked back, rising as a vital cog in Vitor Pereira’s squad.

Transfer expert shares Joao Gomes contract verdict

Pereira was delighted that Gomes signed a new contract, lauding the Brazil international’s importance to the club.

Aside from being one of the manager’s favourites, Gomes is also loved by his teammates, with his quality and desire to achieve there for all to see.

While Wolves will be delighted to have tied the midfield maestro down to a new deal, contracts don’t always spell something positive, as the club have seen through Cunha.

Cunha’s new deal included a release clause that will surely see him leave in the summer, but fortunately, Gomes’ conditions are different.

Speaking to Molineux News, TBR’s Graeme Bailey explored Gomes’ new deal, confirming that there isn’t a release clause in place.

“I am told there is no release clause Joao Gomes’s contract as it stands – which will be pleasing news to many Wolves fans.”

Bailey went on to share his understanding of what the future holds for the Brazilian beyond this season.

“Joao has settled brilliantly into life in England since moving, and his form is attracting interest, but as it stands, I believe he will be staying for at least another year.”

Gomes has been linked to several clubs in recent months, but his new contract is set to serve as a deterrent for the midfielder’s admirers.

Gomes is loved at Wolves

Pereira loves what Gomes brings to his team, unearthing a stellar partnership in midfield with countryman Andre.

Jorgen Strand Larsen reacted joyously to Gomes’ new deal, emphasising how valued the 24-year-old is in the West Midlands.

With a Cunha-sized hole to fill in the summer transfer window, easing the shopping list by retaining Gomes is a triumph in itself for Wolves.

The journey continues for the Brazilian at Molineux, and long may it last.
