How long Jorgen Strand Larsen will be out for following hamstring injury and what games he could miss

Wolves are preparing for arguably their most important match of the season when they welcome rivals Aston Villa to Molineux on Saturday.

Plunged into the relegation zone following Leicester City’s shock win over Spurs last weekend, Wolves, who lost against Arsenal on the same day, desperately need to turn their fortunes around.

Although the challenge that awaits Wolves needs little explanation, things have been made even harder for Vitor Pereira due to a lack of attacking options.

Jorgen Strand Larsen set for spell on sidelines

Joao Gomes was shown a red card against Arsenal so is suspended for this weekend’s game against Villa. It isn’t just the Brazilian that Wolves will be without though.

Striker Jorgen Strand Larsen also won’t be available after he picked up a hamstring injury last time out.

The Norwegian was taken off in the first half against the Gunners, and, according to Express and Star’s Liam Keen, is now set to miss the next ‘two or three weeks’.

The 24-year-old’s absence, although not as significant as Joao Gomes‘, will certainly give Pereira a selection headache.

What games Strand Larsen could miss

Although the Wolves manager will be hoping Strand Larsen can return as quickly as possible, if the forward misses the next three weeks, he could be out for as many as four matches.

Despite Strand Larsen enduring a torrid run of form — scoring just seven league goals in 23 outings — his presence up front is important to Pereira’s style of play.

Unable to call upon him against Villa on Saturday, as well as the Old Gold’s next few games, could see even more pressure put on Matheus Cunha, who, frustratingly, has failed to find the back of the net since being linked with a January exit.
