We can expect a Rob Edwards announcement from Wolves today, and we should find out for sure whether former teammate Joleon Lescott will indeed be joining his staff.
Not long after Edwards’ move to Molineux became common knowledge, reports came out claiming Lescott was being eyed for a role at Wolves.
Since then, it’s been radio silence. Everybody knows Edwards is going to be the new Wolves manager, but the club is yet to confirm it on their official channels.
They are likely waiting for all the backroom staff details to be sorted, but one journalist is confident they already know what is happening with Lescott.

The likelihood of Joleon Lescott joining Wolves
A former teammate at Molineux, Lescott has discussed Wolves’ appointment of Edwards, saying he believes the season is salvageable.
As for the rumours, he has remained tight-lipped.
But talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook has heard enough to make the following claim: “Wolves have held talks with club legend Joleon Lescott about returning as a coach… He has been working as a coach with the FA and was part of Lee Carsley’s staff when he was interim England boss last year.
“Wolves were keen to reunite the former England international with ex-teammate and incoming manager Rob Edwards. However, at this stage it is looking unlikely Lescott will be part of Edwards’s backroom team.”
So a Molineux return doesn’t seem to be on the cards for Lescott, who made more than 200 appearances in Old Gold.
Talks were held, so there was clearly some interest. It will be interesting to find out what stalled progress.
Wolves will announce Rob Edwards very soon
The latest murmurings from Molineux point to an official announcement being imminent.
The agreement between Wolves and Edwards was reached on Sunday, but there has been little in the way of updates since then.
Instead, it has been a week of pundits giving their two-pence on the appointment. Once the announcement comes, Wolves can start refocusing on what matters — on-pitch performance.
Edwards has been given a boost for the international break, with many of his key players staying in England amid snubs from their national teams. That means he can get cracking straight away.
