How Jose Sa and Nelson Semedo got on for Portugal against Croatia with Fabio Silva also making debut

Wolves had three players in action for Portugal last night in the UEFA Nations League.

The international break is almost over and fans will soon be able to turn their attention to the big game with Fulham this weekend in the Premier League.

Wolves have just two players with games left to play.

Santiago Bueno has pulled out of Uruguay’s squad due to injury and will play no part for them against Brazil tomorrow evening.

That just leaves Andre and Tom King, who likely won’t play for Wales against Iceland.

Last night, Portugal played their final Nations League game against Croatia, and there were starts for Jose Sa and Nelson Semedo, with Fabio Silva coming off the bench.

Portugal played in their final Nations League game against Croatia, and drew 1-1 with Joao Felix scoring for the hosts and Josko Gvardiol on target for Croatia.

As a result, both nations have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Nations League, along with Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark.

Jose Sa was given his third cap by Roberto Martinez, and the Wolves number one was in great form. He made a total of six saves in the game (via Sofascore), with four of those coming from Croatia shots in the area. At one point, he made a great double-save.

Sa was also decent on the ball, completing 21/25 (84%) passes.

Nelson Semedo also started, playing as a right wing-back with Joao Cancelo on the left side. He completed 31/37 (84%) passes.

He made two clearances and three tackles and also might have scored, but blasted an effort wide after following up a saved Joao Felix shot. It was a solid if unspectacular display from Semedo.

There was also a maiden appearance for Fabio Silva, who is on loan at Las Palmas this season. Silva was handed just over 20 minutes.

It was a rather uneventful appearance for Silva, who had just five touches of the ball and completed 3/4 passes. He also had no shots at goal, but it was a proud night for the 22-year-old nonetheless.

Silva did also pick up a booking for leading with an arm and catching his opponent too forcefully in the eyes of the referee.

O’Neil will be pleased with Sa

It was good to see Wolves having some representation last night for Portugal – and the performance of Sa will likely go down well with the Wolves manager.

Sa has recently fought his way back into Wolves’ starting XI after Sam Johnstone picked up an injury and has done well in recent games.

He’s now put in a really solid display for his country, and it seems his confidence has returned.

Sa was slammed by fans for his display against Brighton earlier this season, but the 31-year-old has now come into some form.

If Sa can show the levels he did in his first season at Wolves, then that would absolutely huge for Gary O’Neil.
