The Jorgen Strand Larsen saga took over Wolves’ summer, but now that the window is shut, Vitor Pereira is confident the Norwegian will settle once again.
Jorgen Strand Larsen won’t feature against Newcastle, still struggling with an injury.
But that didn’t prevent questions being asked about him following an eventful month of August.
Vitor Pereira has given his thoughts on the Strand Larsen situation and the possibility of a new contract.
Vitor Pereira shares Jorgen Strand Larsen’s feelings amid contract speculation
Pereira was asked about the future of his star striker at Wolves, and his outlook is positive.
He says: “[Strand] Larsen is happy and committed, they are talking about renewing his contract, and he deserves it.”
It was no secret that Strand Larsen was interested in the Newcastle move, but Pereira is confident he will move past it and put all of his focus on Wolves.
Jorge Mendes’ involvement in the saga was a driving force in keeping the rumours alive, but the club’s position was clear from the beginning.
As Liam Keen explained on the E&S Wolves Podcast: “He was told when he arrived at the club as well, not by Wolves, but by Mendes and other people involved that if a big club comes in after a year, you’ll get an opportunity to go.”
That mixed messaging may have caused tensions between Strand Larsen and Wolves, but it seems both parties are ready to move forward.
Jorgen Strand Larsen in for a pay rise as current Wolves salary is revealed
Newcastle got their two strikers, so it’s unlikely that particular link gains traction again.
But personal terms were agreed, and they may give an indication as to what Wolves will have to pay Strand Larsen upon renewal.

At present, he makes £75,000 per week at Wolves, but the amount agreed with Newcastle was a hefty £110,000 per week, as Keen revealed.
Wolves will want to hold on to Strand Larsen for as long as they can. That could mean making him the highest-paid player at the club.
