How Erik ten Hag feels about Wolves job as club’s new preference shared

Wolves continue to search for their next manager following the sacking of Vitor Pereira, and this afternoon there has been word on Erik ten Hag’s stance.

Wolves had appeared set to appoint Gary O’Neil, with Englishman primed to return to Molineux.

But after a large backlash, O’Neil withdrew from the race, meaning Wolves are now exploring other options.

Rob Edwards is thought to be Wolves’ new top target.

But nothing is certain at the moment, and the coming days will no doubt be fascinating as Wolves seek a successor to Pereira.

One other name that has been mentioned with regards to the job is Erik ten Hag – and his stance has now been shared.

Erik ten Hag recently became unattached following his sacking by Bayer Leverkusen.

The Dutchman left the club after just three matches in charge, which came around a year after his sacking by Manchester United.

Ten Hag was regularly criticised for his work at United.

But in the end he did guide the club to two trophies – the Carabao and FA Cups – and also impressed at Ajax, with whom he won three league titles as well as a couple of cups.

But according to the Times, ten Hag would be reluctant to take the job at Wolves. This is mainly due to Wolves’ precarious position at the bottom of the Premier League.

Wolves would prefer to hire a UK manager

So ten Hag is now looking unlikely at this point.

But a lot of fans will likely welcome that news due to his struggles in his last two jobs.

Following the reports that ten Hag wouldn’t be so keen on the job, journalist Tom Collomosse has claimed that Wolves would actually prefer to hire a UK manager anyway.

He said on X earlier today: “As things stand, Wolves’ preference remains to appoint a UK head coach. Yet nothing should be ruled out, given how quickly events moved on Monday.”

Of course, this will only add fuel to the fire that Wolves really want to appoint Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards.

Molineux News understands that Boro are worried about Wolves’ interest in Edwards, but it could still be a tough sell.
