Wolves loanee Hugo Bueno played 90 minutes in Feyenoord’s Champions League defeat to Inter Milan.
Bueno is loving life in the Champions League, opening his eyes to the highs of the European competition during his loan season at Feyenoord.
Now coached by Robin van Persie, the left-back is experiencing some change in the Netherlands as he adapts to the new manager’s style.
In the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 clash between Feyenoord and Inter Milan, Bueno’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat at home, handing them an uphill climb in the return at the San Siro.

Dutch media react to Hugo Bueno’s performance in the Champions League
Wolves will be paying close attention to the defender’s progress at Feyenoord as it’s understood that Bueno could play a big part at Molineux next season.
The Spaniard has made his mark in the Netherlands following his summer transfer, triggering Bueno to be linked to other clubs in preparation for the end of his loan spell.
Once again, the 22-year-old was in the spotlight in the Champions League as he played 90 minutes in Feyenoord’s defeat, seeing the Wolves loanee analysed by the Dutch media.
Voetbal Flitsen and VI were in agreement over the match rating that the fullback deserved, both handing Bueno a 6.5/10 grade for his display.
“Hugo Bueno played a strong match at left-back,” Voetbal Flitsen said, applauding the youngster’s efforts in defence.
De Telegraaf had a different view of the defender’s night in Europe, praising the ‘little respect’ that the Feyenoord man showed to the stars of Inter Milan.
“The defender, who is on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers this season, also showed the same bravado on the field. He had little respect for the big names at the Italian team and also said that he had not wasted many words on the status of many opponents beforehand.”
Other outlets were more harsh with their review of Bueno, with Voetbal Zone awarding the Spaniard a 5/10 match rating.
What could be a concern for Wolves is what Voetbal Primeur had to say about the loanee’s performance, accompanying his 5/10 rating with the following comment.
“The Spanish loanee didn’t really feature in the piece. His successful start at Feyenoord seems to be increasingly difficult for him to follow up on.”
Bueno to play a significant role in Wolves’ summer transfer window
The Dutch outlet’s feedback could be a marginal concern for Wolves, who have high hopes for the left-back ahead of his return.
While Vitor Pereira will be eager to see Bueno’s form continue until the end of his loan spell to improve his squad, the club could also see another outcome for the 22-year-old.

As mentioned, Bueno has generated transfer interest, which could land the Old Gold a significant cash injection given that Wolves paid only £3,000 for his services.
Of course, the preference would be to keep hold of the Spaniard for years to come to further explore his ability but, at a time when his market value is rising, cashing in could also be an option.
Regardless of the outcome of the player’s future, it’s imperative that Bueno’s form continues into the summer to allow for consideration of an array of next steps.
