Wolves’ Brazilian midfielders, Andre and Joao Gomes, have both been called up to represent their nation during the upcoming international break.
Carlo Ancelotti wants to see the players in action ahead of the 2026 World Cup and has said there are multiple players vying for their position.
Ancelotti left Andre and Joao Gomes out of his last two squads, and the midfielders will be hoping to make a lasting impression on their national team manager.
From a Wolves perspective, the call-up is sure to give both players confidence ahead of a tricky fixture against Brighton on Sunday, which is a huge boost for the Old Gold faithful.
However, Brazilian fans do not quite feel the same about their inclusion.

Brazil fans not happy with Andre and Joao Gomes call-ups
Wolves fans are big admirers of both Andre and Joao Gomes, and the duo are an important part of Vitor Pereira’s plans.
However, after the latest international call-ups, fans of the Brazilian national team are not quite pleased with the inclusion of the Old Gold pair.
Fans took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the announcement.
One fan said, “Fabrício Bruno, André, Joao Gomes, Joelinton, and Richarlison, I wouldn’t call them up. I think they all lack the technical quality to play for the national team.”
Meanwhile, another had multiple issues with the squad, including the Wolves duo and stated, “Bento doesn’t even play anymore; he’s not even registered in the Saudi league.
“Wesley is a reserve at Roma, Carlos Augusto is a reserve at Inter, Richarlyson is a reserve at Tottenham, Beraldo is a reserve at PSG, Rodrygo is a reserve at Real, and André and João Gomes are starters for the bottom team in the Premier League.”
One Brazil fan pointed out Andre and Joao Gomes in particular, saying, “What is André playing???? What is João Gomes playing??? Tell me.”
Another said, “Bringing back João Gomes and André arriving is the accumulation of the bizarreness of this rotten CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation); they don’t care about football but about their own interests!!”
Andre and Joao Gomes will have plenty of time to return to England
While Brazil supporters might not be happy, Vitor Pereira will be, based on the South American nation’s fixture schedule.
One of the biggest worries for managers when players get called up for international duty is the long distances they have to travel, and they can often return just a day before a match.
However, Brazil’s last game over the international break takes place on Tuesday, 14th of October, against Japan at 11:30 am BST, with Wolves’ next game four days later.
The pair are likely to make their way back to England soon after the match and, hopefully, will be back in England by Thursday for training.
This will give both Andre and Joao Gomes two full training sessions ahead of a crucial match against Sunderland.
Hopefully the call-up can provide them with added confidence for the foreseeable future, and that could be a major boost for Wolves.
