Wolves have plenty of players out on loan for the 2024/25 campaign as they look to show they are ready to break into the Old Gold’s first team.
In the summer, Wolves sent nine players out on loan to various clubs in England and across Europe.
While some of the stars have been outcasts at the Old Gold for a while, others are seen as developing young prospects.
However, the move is seen as an opportunity for all to get regular game time and to prove why they should be in Wolves’ first-team squad.
Therefore, Molineux News has examined each of the nine players and assessed how they are doing out on loan.
Hugo Bueno
In the summer, in a controversial move, Wolves decided to loan Hugo Bueno out to Dutch side Feyenoord.
While this has left the club with only one natural left-back, the Spaniard has enjoyed his time in the Netherlands to date.
Bueno’s form at Feyenoord has been sensational. The full-back has been a regular at the Dutch club both in the league and the Champions League.
His performances have seen Bueno linked to Barcelona as the youngster continues to develop on the pitch.
Joe Hodge
Joe Hodge has had a weird past couple of seasons. After breaking into Wolves’ first team in the 2022/23 campaign, the midfielder had limited chances under Gary O’Neil.
Therefore, he was sent out to QPR in January 2024 before once again departing for Huddersfield in the summer until the end of the 2024/25 season.
In League One, Hodge has struggled for fitness and has been out of action since the end of October.
Fabio Silva
Arguably the most successful loanee on this list, Fabio Silva had struggled to find a new club in the summer.
After a poor loan spell at Rangers during the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, Wolves were unable to sell the striker which resulted in a season-long loan move to Spanish side Las Palmas.
Here, he has completely turned his form around. The youngster has netted multiple times throughout the season and has even scored past Barcelona.
His form saw Silva earn his first senior Portugal cap earlier in the campaign as he looks to turn his career around.
However, it appears that the striker will still be returning to Wolves in the summer with Las Palmas unable to afford Silva’s wages.
Chem Campbell
Wolves’ youth academy graduate Chem Campbell has enjoyed another loan spell in League One this campaign.
The Welsh winger has joined Reading on loan until the end of the season where he has become a regular for the side.
So far, he has netted five goals, including two in the FA Cup.
With Reading fighting for promotion, he will be hoping to get a taste of Championship football next season.
Nathan Fraser
Wolves’ upcoming striker showed plenty of promise in the 2023/24 campaign. Nathan Fraser netted two goals for the first team including a vital equaliser vs Brentford in the FA Cup.
Therefore, in the summer he was sent out on loan to Belgian second-tier side Zalte Waregem in order to get some much-needed regular football.
However, the loan has been far from a success. The striker has had little game time and has struggled to break into the team.
Therefore, it is likely that Fraser will return to Wolves in January.
Ki-Jana Hoever
A forgotten man at Wolves, Ki-Jana Hoever was once again sent out on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.
This time, the full-back was sent to France as he joined Ligue 1 outfit Auxerre.
Here, Hoever has become a regular and has started the majority of his games for the French side.
This has allowed the French side to compete near the top of the table as they fight for European football.
Chiquinho
The Portuguese winger was once again sent out on loan for the 2024/25 campaign after a successful spell in Portugal.
This time, Chiquinho was sent to Spanish side Mallorca who compete in the top-flight.
However, unlike Silva, the 24-year-old has struggled for form and game time in La Liga.
After being limited to cameos from the bench, it is likely that Chiquinho will be brought back from his loan spell in January.
Tawanda Chirewa
Tawanda Chirewa broke into Wolves’ first-team at the back end of the 2023/24 campaign as the Old Gold suffered from an injury crisis.
The 21-year-old midfielder played numerous games under O’Neil as the club dragged themselves to the end of the season.
In the summer, Chirewa was given a loan move in the hopes of securing regular football when he was loaned out to Derby County in the Championship.
However, since the transfer, the youngster has struggled for fitness and has only made three appearances due to a torn thigh muscle which has kept him out of action since October.
Nigel Lonwijk
A forgotten man at Wolves, Nigel Lonwijk is seen as a highly promising upcoming centre-back.
Last season, Lonwijk made headlines when he scored a sensational overhead kick for Wycombe Wanderers against Reading on loan.
This campaign, he was sent on loan to League One again, this time joining Huddersfield Town.
Here, he has fared better than Hodge and has started the majority of games at the Terriers as they look for an instant return to the Championship.
