Horrendous statistic points to just how bad Wolves’ recent Premier League form is

Wolves slumped to yet another Premier League defeat on Saturday as Liverpool beat Gary O’Neil’s side 2-1 at Molineux.

It was deja vu yet again for the Molineux faithful. Wolves once again played a decent game against title-hopefuls Liverpool, yet by the time the full-time whistle sounded, it was another defeat.

As a result, O’Neil’s side remains bottom of the Premier League, with only one point to their name after six games.

While many will point to the tough fixture list that Wolves were given at the start of the campaign, this form has lasted since the backend of the 2023/24 season.

Now, one statistic has shown just how poor the Old Gold have been for the past six months.

Burnley have picked up more Premier League points than Wolves since March 10

Since March 10, wins have been rare for Wolves in the Premier League. Their only victory in this time was a 2-1 triumph over Luton Town who went on to be relegated.

This means that O’Neil has only overseen one victory in his last 16 Premier League games.

While injuries, VAR and the general run of fixtures have certainly contributed to this, it is still an unacceptable statistic.

To put into context how bad Wolves’ form has been, journalist Colin Millar pointed out that Burnley, who are now in the Championship, have won more Premier League points in this period, despite not playing a game in the top flight since May.

The run of form Wolves are on is simply unacceptable. While O’Neil can point to multiple reasons as to why the club are in this situation, the fact is that good managers get results out of bad situations.

In the majority of Wolves’ games this campaign, they have played well in spells but cannot get a result over the line.

Patience from the fanbase will now be thin and a victory against Brentford next week is a must.

The simple truth is, if Wolves want to be competitive, they have to win games, a task they have seemingly forgotten how to complete.
