Hope for Wolves and Rob Edwards against Brentford ahead of Molineux showdown

Wolves will be looking to gain as many positives as they can get when Brentford come to Molineux, and a record the Bees currently have could provide hope.

Ki-Jana Hoever has insisted Wolves’ squad are yet to give up, but if this winless run continues, that self-belief may not last long.

Rob Edwards will also be concerned about two of his stars on Saturday. Both players are one yellow card away from suspension, and that will be a blow for the club if it happens against Brentford.

However, while the odds may be against the Old Gold, and they go into the game as underdogs once more, the Bees have an away record that could spark a positive outlook.

Finish the sentence: The first player on Rob Edwards’ team sheet for Brentford must be ______.

Rob Edwards will be looking for any advantage to use against Keith Andrews’ Brentford, and the Bees’ record away from home could provide that.

While Andrews has certainly surprised many with his Brentford side this season, the London club struggle quite a bit when not playing at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Bees have lost their last four away matches in the Premier League, and with Saturday’s fixture at Molineux, that could increase to five.

Additionally, December seems to be a tricky month for them. Since becoming a Premier League side, the Bees have lost nine out of 12 away matches taking place in the calendar year’s final month.

The last time they won an away match in December was against West Ham back in the 2022/2023 season.

Only Wolves are worse away from home than Brentford

Wolves have lost 17 away matches since the start of last season, which is the most in the Premier League, so Rob Edwards will be delighted they return to Molineux this weekend.

In fact, Brentford are also quite poor away from home as well, as they are second only to Wolves, with 15 away losses in the same period.

That vulnerability when facing a tough home crowd suggests it could be a closer affair than the league table currently suggests.

With that performance against Arsenal, the optimism for a first win is certainly there. The Old Gold gave themselves a good standing against the Gunners, and they’ll be looking to carry that on.

If they can produce the same levels of intensity and desire as last Saturday, we could finally see three points earned in the Premier League for the first time since April.
