‘He’s working hard’: Vitor Pereira reacts to possibility of new Wolves signing featuring against Liverpool

Wolves made three signings throughout the January transfer window, and all but one have made their debuts. That could be about to change this weekend though.

Wolves signed Emmanuel Agbadou from Stade Reims at the start of the year before confirming Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga had also joined on Deadline Day.

Agbadou was thrown into the deep end and made his debut in the FA Cup Third Round against Bristol City just days after being unveiled.

Muntetsi’s first introduction came during a cameo against Blackburn last time out, and judging by Vitor Pereira’s recent comments, Djiga could be next.

Vitor Pereira hints at Nasser Djiga debut

Wolves are preparing for arguably their toughest match of the season. The Old Gold will travel to Merseyside for an away day against leaders Liverpool.

Pereira is an admirer of Arne Slot but will do everything he can to dent the Dutchman’s chances of lifting the English title.

And speaking about the possibility of including one of his youngest, most inexperienced talents against Slot’s runaway Reds, Pereira hinted Djiga could soon be about to make his eagerly anticipated debut.

“He’s [Djiga] working hard to be ready to help the team. I’m very happy with the competition inside the team,” the Wolves boss told reporters.

Matt Doherty form could delay first start

Although fans can’t wait to see Djiga in action, they may be forced to wait a while before the 22-year-old is handed his first start.

Djiga has a rivalry with Matt Doherty — the pair are competing for the same spot on the left side of Pereira’s three-man backline.

Djiga’s age and inexperience in the Premier League may delay him making his full debut, and Pereira will know a hostile environment like Anfield will only put more pressure on the youngster.

While the African centre-back could still feature, it seems most likely he’ll be named on the bench for Sunday’s blockbuster.
