He’s scored 55 career goals but he may never play for Wolves again after Vitor Pereira snub

Wolves have made two cut-throat decisions that could see one star never play for the club again.

Vitor Pereira saw the transfer window slam shut on Monday and the Portuguese boss will have been satisfied with the business done.

Emmanuel Agbadou has already won the Player of the Month Award after a fine January while centre-back Nasser Djiga and midfielder Marshall Munetsi joined the club.

Wolves’ two deadline day signings could be in the squad to face Blackburn Rovers this weekend but their arrivals could come at the cost of two players futures.

Wolves are in talks to terminate Craig Dawson’s contract. Pereira doesn’t see him playing a part in his plans and has left him out of the squad alongside one other player.

Sasa Kalajdzic left out of Wolves Premier League squad

Unsurprisingly, forgotten forward Sasa Kalajdzic has also been left out of their Premier League squad for the remainder of the campaign.

The 27-year-old is currently recovering from the third ACL injury of his career which he suffered while on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt last year.

Kalajdzic has been on the grass for weeks at Compton Park but it’s unclear whether he’s resumed full training, with Pereira’s snub dashing his chances of featuring this term.

It’s been a miserable few years for the Austrian international, who has accumulated just 14 appearances at Wolves since signing from Stuttgart in the summer of 2022.

The scorer of 55 career goals, Kalajdzic has been denied a chance to showcase his goalscoring prowess at Molineux due to injury and there is a chance he could leave permanently in the summer.

Vitor Pereira explains Kalajdzic snub

It’s hard to see the towering striker have a long-term future in Wolverhampton. Although his contract expires in 2027, Wolves would perhaps cash in on him at the first opportunity.

Explaining the decision to leave him out of the squad, Pereira said, as per The Athletic: “Sasa has had a serious injury. I cannot put pressure on because I think at this moment of his career, he needs to recover totally from the injury.

“I think he needs to have the time, the proper time, to recover step by step, not push, because if he has another problem it will be a disaster for his career.

“I must respect the information of the medical department. I cannot push a player to play if he has a problem and if the future of the player is on the table.”

Clearly, Pereira has made a measured decision to not include him in the squad and it will be interesting to see what stance he takes once the summer window is open.
