Benfica manager Roger Schmidt has suggested that he would like to re-sign Goncalo Guedes from Wolves in this transfer window.
The winger spent last season on loan at his former club, but struggling to get minutes.
Guedes’ spell was ruined by injury.
The 26-year-old underwent knee surgery twice, and he is currently still recovering from his second operation.
He was recently spotted back at Compton, leading to some speculation he could be set for a second chance under new manager Gary O’Neil.
He was also included on the players numbers list.
But it was then suggested that Guedes was still on track to sign Guedes by the end of the window – and now Schmidt has added fuel to the fire.
Roger Schmidt suggests he wants Goncalo Guedes back
On Friday at his press conference, Schmidt was asked about the potential for Guedes to return to Benfica.

Although he didn’t say Guedes is 100% guaranteed to come back, Schmidt did make it pretty clear he wants him.
He said (O Jogo): “It’s an open question. He was a very important player for us. He was unlucky with the injuries. If we get the opportunity, it will be fantastic because he’s a great player.
“I appreciate him a lot as a player and as a person.”
Benfica have recently lost Goncalo Ramos to Paris Saint-Germain, which means a lot of goals have gone out of the team.
Guedes set to leave Wolves again
So Benfica are definitely interested in taking Guedes again.
It is just frustrating that it seems like it will be another loan move, because that obviously means Wolves cannot use any funds from his exit on new recruits.
And Wolves really need to strengthen the squad before the window closes.

It is being reported that Wanderers still need to sell a couple more players if they are to have a chance of bringing in new faces.
Daniel Podence and Jonny Castro Otto are two players that could leave.
Guedes looks like he will be off judging by Schmidt’s comments, but it’ll be shame if the exit is only a loan.
