Heartfelt Diogo Jota tribute soon to appear near Molineux as former Wolves hero honoured

Diogo Jota is being rightfully honoured with a mural next to Molineux Stadium.

Diogo Jota’s tragic passing last month shocked the sports world to its core, and the upcoming season won’t distract Wolves fans from honouring their former star.

Jota was loved in Wolverhampton even after his move to Liverpool. He provided some iconic moments in Old Gold and attracted that same adoration from the fans at Anfield.

The next week will be an emotional one, as the Premier League returns for the first time since the news of him and his brother Andre’s passing in a road accident in Spain. Tributes will be abundant, and one special dedication will be revealed in Wolverhampton soon.

Work has begun on a mural for Diogo Jota outside Molineux

Video footage came out on Monday, revealing plans for a huge mural for the former Wolves star, outside The Leaping Wolf pub beside Molineux.

The mural will be a touching tribute to Jota’s Wolves career, as the artist explains: “By the end of it, we’re gonna have a big portrait of Jota, some other figures of him, lots of orange and lots of gold and yellow and hopefully a Wolves badge on one side.”

While no date has been set for completion, the mural will be a fantastic addition to the area and a deserved recognition of a club legend who helped Wolves achieve so much in his time at Molineux.

A tribute is also being planned for this weekend’s opening match of the season.

It will be a tough season for Wolves and Liverpool regardless of results

This kind of loss is rare in football. Former players passing is a part of life, but a 28-year-old current player passing in such shocking fashion is sure to have a much larger impact, especially at the clubs Jota called home.

Especially for Liverpool, as they just celebrated a title win with Jota as a key ingredient, and now they must go into the new season without such an admired figure in the dressing room.

But even for Wolves, Jota spent three years at the club and became a fan favourite as he emerged as a potent attacking talent.

Fans shared so much joy with him, and the constant reminder of the loss is sure to linger this season and for a long time to come.
