Wolves have watched on with envy this term as Nuno Espirito Santo threatens to lead Nottingham Forest to FA Cup and Champions League glory.
Nuno is enjoying an incredible time at the City Ground, returning Forest to their glory days of battling at the top of the first division.
It leaves Wolves fans to reminisce on their times under the Portuguese tactician, seeing him guide the Old Gold into the Europa League on two occasions.
Supporters also witnessed some wonderful players grace the Molineux pitch, most notably Wolves Premier League top scorer Raul Jimenez and midfield maestros Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves.
However, they were equally denied the chance to watch several quality players during their golden era, and one is now a top Premier League striker.

Nuno Espirito Santo wanted to sign Dominic Solanke in 2018
In his tenure at Molineux, Wolves missed out on signing Ezri Konsa, who is now starring for Aston Villa in the Champions League.
Wolves were also recommended to sign Youri Tielemans, and he’s since become an integral part of Villa’s success after starring at Leicester City.
They weren’t the only two incredible stars Nuno missed out on during his time at the club, as The Express reported in December 2018 that the Wanderers wanted Dominic Solanke on loan from Liverpool.
Nuno desired to bolster his attack with some firepower during the transfer window, seeing Solanke as a realistic option to challenge Jimenez.
The Englishman was instead snapped up by Bournemouth for £19 million in the 2019 January transfer window and remained at the Vitality Stadium for almost five years before joining Tottenham for £65 million in 2024.
Solanke has scored 134 career goals so far, including 77 at the Cherries, and he’s currently starring at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou.
Jorgen Strand Larsen is outscoring Solanke in 2024/25
Wolves may have missed out on the chance to profit heavily by signing Solanke but their capture of Jorgen Strand Larsen has proven worth its weight in gold.
The Norwegian has surpassed double figures in his debut Premier League campaign, even outperforming someone who cost £65m.
2024/25 Premier League statistics | Dom Solanke | Jorgen Strand Larsen |
Appearances | 22 | 29 |
Goals | 7 | 11 |
Assists | 3 | 2 |
Big chances missed | 10 | 11 |
Shots per game | 2.5 | 1.5 |
Strand Larsen was compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his touch in the build-up to Pablo Sarabia’s goal on Saturday, and the 25-year-old popped up with the winner to take his tally to 11.
The towering centre-forward will be looking to add to that total when Wolves host Tottenham on Sunday as he faces off against Solanke.
