It’s been a whirlwind seven years for Wolves since they were promoted back to the Premier League in 2018 under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Wolves cantered to the Championship title in that campaign with 99 points and played some wonderful football under Nuno Espirito Santo.
With a 20-year-old Ruben Neves pulling the strings in midfield and Diogo Jota showing a deadly streak in attack, it’s no surprise to see some of that team achieve great things.
Neves completed a £44m transfer to Al Hilal in 2023 after six incredible years at Wolves, which included back-to-back campaigns in the Europa League.
Jota, meanwhile, has since become a top-class forward at Liverpool after moving to Anfield in the summer of 2020.
Nuno Santo had a team laced with quality throughout but one player from that title-winning side is now playing in the lower echelons of non-league.

Former Wolves player Ben Marshall is now playing in the 10th tier of English football
When Wolves captured Ben Marshall from Blackburn Rovers in January 2017, he was regarded as a brilliant coup for the then Championship side.
Marshall, who was 25 at the time, had impressed across two-and-a-half seasons at Ewood Park and was an exciting winger to watch.
However, despite arriving with high hopes, the Englishman failed to make a positive impression at Molineux, only amassing 25 appearances for the club and scoring twice.
Six of those came during Wolves’ title-winning campaign in 2018, with Marshall coming off the bench in the first half of the season before embarking on a loan move to Millwall in January of that year.
Marshall then completed a transfer to Norwich City in the summer of 2018 after Wolves were promoted to the Premier League.
Remarkably, just a year after joining the Championship outfit, the once exciting winger experienced a huge fall from grace.
At the age of just 28, he found himself at non-league club Stoneclough FC in 2019 and now he’s in the 10th tier with AFC Darwen, who play in the North West Counties League Division One North.
What Paul Lambert said about Ben Marshall
Paul Lambert will go down as one of the worst managers in Wolves history and his comments on Marshall after he signed explain his awful lack of judgement.
Lambert told BBC WM that signing Marshall was “a huge thing” for the club and added: “He is a terrific offensive player.”
He also said via BBC Sport: “He can play in defence as well and anywhere across the front so there is versatility as well,” said Lambert.
“He is a really good footballer and will be a welcome addition. He will know with the results that are happening that he will have to fight to get in the team. I think the fans will love him.”
After just 18 months at Wolves, it became clear that Lambert’s comments aged like milk, with his career taking a huge downward spiral since.
