Wolves are heading towards a solid campaign in the Premier League after the disastrous tenure of Gary O’Neil.
The Old Gold had lost all hope after the 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town left them four points from safety in December, with O’Neil being sacked and fans having no idea what was to come next.
The end of O’Neil’s tenure was even Jeff Shi’s lowest point as Wolves chairman, telling of how bad things were under the Englishman.
However, fast forward five months, and the Wanderers are now arguably in their best moment since Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge.
Wolves are now 13th in the table after an outstanding run of form, and hardly anything can wipe the smile off supporters’ faces, aside from perhaps one transfer mishap in 2021.

Wolves could have signed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in 2021
Wolves have painfully missed out on several world-class stars over the years. In 2023, Shi being out of the country saw Wolves miss out on goal-machine striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The Old Gold also failed to sign Ruben Dias before he went to Manchester City, and Aston Villa maestro Youri Tielemans.
Arguably the most painful of them all, though, is when Nuno had the opportunity to sign winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in 2021 before he was snapped up by Napoli.
Wolves were interested in Kvaratskhelia when he was at FC Dinamo Batumi in the Georgian top division, as many clubs chased the electric winger.
Their pursuit of the Georgian unfortunately didn’t go any further, though, as Serie A side Napoli snapped him up for just £9 million in 2022.
That was an incredible bargain for the Italian side, who pocketed £58 million for his services in January 2025 when he joined PSG.
Kvaratskhelia reaches Champions League final with PSG
Kvaratskhelia is now one of the best wingers on the planet, reaching world-class status due to his form on the European stage.
Likened to the great George Best for how he glides past players with unstoppable speed and incredible dribbling, Kvaratskhelia has lit up the Champions League this term alongside former Wolves star Vitinha.
The 24-year-old has posted two goals and two assists in the competition but his all-round game has flourished, and now PSG have booked their place in the Champions League final.

Inspired by the world-class goalkeeping performance of Gianluigi Donnarumma, the French giants saw off Arsenal 3-1 over two legs to book their place in the final against Inter Milan.
It was a special night for everyone involved on Tuesday as PSG clinched a 2-1 victory in Paris, with Kvaratskhelia performing brilliantly on the wing and making Wolves regret not signing him.
