Craig Dawson has praised Wolves’ capture of Santiago Bueno and believes the Uruguay international will increase the competition at the club.
Bueno was one of six summer signings for Wolves in the end.
He arrived the day before transfer deadline, along with fellow South American Enso Gonzalez.
Bueno is a player who has impressed over in La Liga for the past couple of years with Girona.
The 24-year-old arrives as someone who is rated very highly by Marcelo Bielsa, who is the Uruguay national team manager.
Bielsa has actually just called Bueno up to his squad for their games against Chile and Ecuador.
That will mean no training time with Gary O’Neil at Wolves for Bueno, which is not particularly ideal.
But Dawson feels Wolves have made a solid signing…
Craig Dawson gives verdict on Santiago Bueno
Dawson has offered his thoughts about his fellow centre-half.

He said (via the Express & Star): “He’s obviously a good player. We haven’t seen too much of him as he’s only just come, but it’s competition for places which is good for us in a position we needed to strengthen in.
“Of course, we need the depth in the squad and you need competition for places.
“It can only push us and make us stronger as a team and he looks like a great addition.”
Bueno signed for Wolves from Girona for approximately £8.5 million.
In the end, the star was the preferred choice, despite weeks of speculation linking the club with a move for Nico Elvedi, who has remained at Borussia Monchengladbach.
High hopes over Bueno
It was very interesting to see Wolves make a move for Bueno in the end.
Matt Hobbs said when Bueno signed that he is ‘driven, hungry, hardworking and humble, but with a bit of an edge and can play’. He also said he’s a perfect fit for what we’ve been looking for’.
Hobbs also pointed about the success Uruguay has had in producing top centre-backs in recent years.

So potentially, Bueno could be a really good little pick-up.
His arrival is definitely welcome, because so far this season, Dawson and Max Kilman have struggled a little at the back. They need a push and hopefully Bueno will be able to provide a strong one.
