Wolves are being linked with a fresh move for Valencia forward Goncalo Guedes.
It has been claimed by Estadio Deportivo that the club have sounded out the 25-year-old as a potential addition this summer.
The Best XI Already NOT Going To The 2022 World Cup
Guedes’ contract is expiring in the summer of 2023. It is therefore possible Los Che will look to negotiate with other clubs over his potential sale.
Wolves have been linked with a move for Guedes a couple of times before.
He is represented by Jorge Mendes, who has obviously facilitated several deals to take players to Molineux in the past.
It is possible Guedes could finally wind up in Wolverhampton this summer.
Adama Traore’s future is up in the air. But Wolves will surely look to sell him after his loan with Barcelona concludes.
The Spaniard only has a year left on his contract at Molineux.
And it remains to be seen if Francisco Trincao becomes a permanent Wolves player. The club have the option to buy him, but he has largely frustrated this season.
So Guedes could be someone Wolves move for, and it would be interesting to see what that would mean for Hwang Hee-chan.
The South Korean international joined Wolves last summer on loan from RB Leipzig. In January it was announced that the club will be making his move permanent for £14 million.
Arguably, any move for Guedes could have a negative impact on Hwang in terms of game time.
Positionally and stylistically, Guedes and Hwang are similar
For Valencia this season, Guedes has operated both on the left and through the middle. He’s also had the odd game on the right.
The star is quite versatile, and likes to use his pace and dribbling to cause problems.
That is something that Hwang is all about as well.
So Wolves signing Guedes this summer could potentially harm Hwang’s chance of becoming a regular starter.
If Lage fancied switching to a 4-4-2 next season, Guedes could potentially be an option to play in a partnership with Raul Jimenez. We have seen Hwang play through the middle on occasion, so it really could be a transfer that forces him to raise his game.
