Goncalo Guedes spotted with the squad as Wolves fly to the US

Gary O’Neil and the Wolves squad are flying out to the US today for the second stage of their pre-season, and some very interesting news has surfaced this morning.

Wanderers recently arrived back from Marbella having spent a week doing warm weather training.

Wolves also played a game against Italian club Como 1907, winning 1-0 thanks to a Matt Doherty header.

Wolves then returned to Compton Park, and played in another training match against Bristol City.

Pre-season has been going well so far, and hopefully, things will continue in the same vein out in the US, where Wolves are set to play against West Ham United, Crystal Palace and RB Leipzig.

The squad are now flying out to Jacksonville first and they will then head to , and a post from one player this morning has revealed something quite interesting.

Gary O’Neil sprung a big surprise at the week as he gave minutes to Goncalo Guedes against Bristol City.

Guedes had not played for Wolves since January 2023, having been on loan at Benfica and Villarreal.

The narrative has long been that Guedes did not want to play for Wolves, and that the club would work to get him out permanently this summer.

But one does now wonder if the situation has changed slightly.

This morning, Wolves boarded their flight to Miami, and Luke Cundle uploaded a picture to his Instagram Story which clearly shows Guedes is there with the squad.

He can be seen having a conversation with Matt Doherty and Toti Gomes.

An interesting development

This is not something Wolves fans will have seen coming.

Guedes, who cost Wolves £27.5 million, is a player many Wolves supporters thought would not play any part at all in pre-season.

But he got minutes against Bristol City and now he is heading to the States with the squad.

It is going to be fascinating to see what his level of involvement will be during the course of Wolves’ stint in the US.

Undoubtedly, Guedes is a very talented player and there was a reason Wolves bought him.
