Wolves have been handed a boost ahead of a hugely important second half of the season.
After Wolves lost to Arsenal last weekend and Leicester City beat Tottenham, the Old Gold now sit inside the relegation zone.
One point from safety and the lowest they’ve been all season, the pressure is on Vitor Pereira to turn it around, and quickly.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
17 | 23 | 4 | 5 | 14 | 25 | 49 | -24 | 17 | |

19 | 23 | 3 | 7 | 13 | 21 | 47 | -26 | 16 |
However, despite all the bad news, one Wolves first-team player’s timely injury update will be music to Pereira’s ears.

Yerson Mosquera nearing Wolves return
Yerson Mosquera suffered an awful injury against Aston Villa last September.
The Columbian defender injured his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) during a challenge at Villa Park earlier in the season.
Out ever since the 23-year-old, who featured five times before getting sidelined, has explained how his recovery is going.
“My recovery is going really well, and I will be pushing it further as soon as possible. I had an appointment recently and the doctor said good things, which is really important, because I can see my progress,” he told Wolves.
“At the moment I’m in the gym and I will be ready to do a lot of things. I don’t know when I’ll be back on the pitch, but I know it’s closer, and everyone’s happy to see me progress.
“I know the situation for the team and it’s really hard for me, because I want to play, but it’s impossible at the moment. We know we have good players and I believe in them, and that’s how we are as a group.”
Although it was feared Mosquera would be out for the season, it seems his latest update could see him return to action before the end of the season.
Options at the back
Following Emmanuel Agbadou’s arrival earlier this month, the Old Gold want to sign another centre-back.
Wolves have identified Kevin Danso as a transfer target and could bring the Austrian to Molineux before next week’s Deadline Day.
However, with Mosquera nearing return too, Pereira could soon find himself with plenty of defensive options — something he will need as he battles against Everton, Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton in the race for survival.
Mosquera’s possible inclusion before the end of the season could see him form part of a three-man backline also featuring Agbadou and Danso should Fosun beat Rennes to his signature.
