Gary O’Neil lauds ‘incredible’ 24-year-old Wolves gem after recent form

Gary O’Neil has lauded a Wolves star for his immaculate recent form for the Molineux side in recent weeks.

Wolves have enjoyed some incredible form over the past few weeks. Three consecutive wins – capped off by a 3-0 win over Everton – have shot Wolves up the league and now European football doesn’t seem out of the realms of possibility.

Gary O’Neil‘s side sit in 11th place on 28 points which is remarkably just three adrift of Manchester United who sit in seventh.

The league is now over halfway through and so there’s really no reason Wolves can’t push on in the next few months and find themselves in Europe next season.

This form wouldn’t have been possible without the quality displays that the first-team squad have put in – with the defence, attack and midfield all impressing in recent weeks.

Now, O’Neil has picked out some of his squad for some specific praise as Wolves enjoy a small break after such a busy December.

O’Neil praises Toti Gomes

One of the key players who has been thriving for Wolves of late is Toti Gomes who’s become a pivotal part of O’Neil’s backline.

Speaking with Express and Star, O’Neil shared his verdict on Toti’s recent form for Wolves, however, he began by praising Wolves for their top-class recruitment which has allowed the club to recover financially.

“To add to that, we’re somewhere between £80million to £100million better off than we were this time last year, so the club have managed to do some really good business with some of the players that weren’t recognised at the time.”

He then singled out Toti for his performances and lauded the fact he was signed for just £680k which now looks like an absolute steal.

“What Toti Gomes is doing in the Premier League at the moment, for the money the club spent on him, is incredible.”

O’Neil also praises Joao Gomes

The Wolves boss didn’t stop there though as he also heaped praise onto the younger Gomes at his disposal, Joao Gomes.

The 22-year-old has gone from strength to strength this season for Wolves and recently has been very impressive for O’Neil.

Now, he’s also been praised.

“Joao Gomes, for a young player to be performing the way he is, is incredible.”
