Gary O’Neil joins Terry Connor as the only modern Wolves managers to achieve horrific record

Gary O’Neil is under heavy pressure as Wolves’ Premier League form continues to decline.

Despite outrage from the Old Gold faithful, all signs point towards O’Neil staying in charge for West Ham.

The Englishman oversaw one of the worst defeats in recent history on Wednesday when the club were battered 4-0 by a struggling Everton side.

Fans have been calling for O’Neil to be sacked, however, it has been reported that few managers are open to taking the role.

Both Graham Potter and David Moyes are not interested in Wolves as their situation grows more dire.

However, a defeat against the Hammers will likely see O’Neil sacked, especially considering how bad his record is in the Premier League.

While O’Neil’s win percentage at Wolves is appalling, it has been inflated thanks to his run in the FA Cup last season.

When only accounting for Premier League games managed, the Englishman’s record is extremely poor.

So far in the top-flight, O’Neil has managed 53 games at Wolves. 15 of these matches he has won, while 10 have ended in draws.

This means that O’Neil has overseen 27 defeats from his 53 Premier League games in charge of the club.

As a percentage, this works out at a 51% loss rate in the league, something that hasn’t been done since Terry Connor took Wolves down.

Both Stale Solbakken and Dean Saunders have come close, both hitting 50% before they were sacked.

Wolves’ failure to take action will relegate them from the Premier League

The crisis the club find themselves in is self-inflicted. A self-sustainable model does not work at any level, let alone a club that has been fighting relegation for years.

Fosun have become increasingly incompetent, with their decisions constantly making little to no sense.

Relegation is now inevitable under this policy. While it may not happen this season, it will soon with the board seemingly unwilling to take blame for the constant battles for survival the club finds itself in.

With ticket prices constantly on the rise, star players sold every summer, and the inability to attract a new manager shows that Fosun has failed Wolves and their fans.
