Wolves injury latest: Gary O’Neil issues positive Hwang Hee-Chan update as Rayan Ait-Nouri’s fitness is confirmed

All the latest Wolves injury news from Gary O’Neil and when the fans can expect the return of their star players.

Wolves are currently in a bit of an injury crisis at the moment. Multiple of O’Neil’s star players have been forced onto the sidelines throughout 2024 leaving options scarce.

Multiple academy graduates have been thrown into the first-team due to the lack of options with Brazilian Matheus Cunha only just making his comeback vs Burnley.

With O’Neil pushing the side to the edge of the European places this has come at the wrong time for Wolves.

However, going into the Nottingham Forest game, the manager had a more positive update ahead of the clash at the City Ground.

Wolves’ top scorer has not had a lot of time to shine so far in 2024. After going away with the Asian Cup, Hwang only played twice in the Premier League upon returning before going off injured against Brighton.

After the defeat to Newcastle, O’Neil confirmed that the South Korean international would be out for six weeks.

Ahead of Nottingham Forest, O’Neil was able to issue a positive update on the attacker as he nears the end of his recovery. Journalist Liam Keen reported he said: “Hee-chan is in the matchday squad. Fantastic for us.”

Expected return: Nottingham Forest (April 13)

One player who has had quite a few knocks this season. Dawson has missed the last few games with a groin injury and has not featured since the defeat to Newcastle.

Last weekend, Dawson made it onto the bench in the 2-1 defeat to West Ham at Molineux but was not risked during the match.

Now, like Hwang, O’Neil has confirmed that the defender will once again be in the squad for Saturday.

Expected return: Nottingham Forest (April 13)

Wolves’ Algerian ace has carried the club through recent games as O’Neil’s side endured their injury crisis.

Often being deployed further up the pitch, Ait-Nouri has developed a knack of getting a goal in recent months with Wolves having few attacking options.

However, O’Neil had a scare last Saturday when the trickster was forced off the field in the second half with a knock.

Now, in the build-up to Forest, the manager has confirmed that Ait-Nouri only had a ‘minor issue’ and he envisages him being in the squad.

Expected return: Nottingham Forest (April 13)

Since signing in the summer, Wolves’ Frenchman hasn’t had much time to shine. Bellegarde has often been played out of position due to the injury crisis the club find themselves in.

Things then got worse for the midfielder when he picked up an injury against Fulham and was forced off in the first half. O’Neil has confirmed the Forest match is still too early for Bellegarde as he continues to recover.

Expected return: Unknown

Pedro Neto – injury latest

It seems Wolves may have seen the last of Neto this season. The winger has always had issues with injuries and this curse has now struck again.

After missing a big portion of the campaign with a hamstring injury, this fate has now shown its ugly head once more. In the 2-1 victory against Fulham, Neto felt his other hamstring just before half-time and was forced off. With so few games left of the campaign, it is unlikely fans see him recover in time.

Expected return: Start of the 2024/25 season
