Gary O’Neil has been speaking to press ahead of Wolves’ visit to Goodison on Saturday.
However, on-field action wasn’t the focus of his questions but rather the transfer business at Molineux was.
With it a known fact Wolves are in need of new signings, he was asked on his confidence over potential incomings.
The Athletic reported that he was positive about a potential incoming, and insisted it wouldn’t depend on outgoings.
“I don’t think people leaving is the only way of people arriving,” he said. “There are things going on and we’re hoping to add and make things a little bit stronger over the next week or so.
“We’re trying to be active in the market within our budget and what suits the club but it’s not dependent on others leaving.”

O’Neil on Nunes’ potential departure
Of-course he was also asked about outgoings and Matheus Nunes and his potential transfer to Manchester City.
As reported by The Athletic, O’Neil didn’t waste anytime silencing these rumours about Nunes as he said:
“He’s an important player for us and has four, potentially five, years left on his contract.
“He’s suspended for the weekend, unfortunately, but we rejected a bid because we didn’t feel it met our valuation and we move on.”
Clearly City are going to need a hugely improved bid in order to tempt Wolves to sell.
Will Wolves sell
The question isn’t whether Wolves sell, but if City can match the asking price set.
With reports suggesting a bid is being prepared worth closer to £60m, that could be enough to tempt the Old Gold chiefs.
While a sore loss, selling Nunes could actually be a good thing for the long term upside of the club.
The funds raised could easily bring in three players that can improve Wolves drastically.
We hope to see that happen if a sale transpires.
