Gary O’Neil has given his verdict on the penalty call which saw Wolves lose 2-1 to Sheffield United on Saturday evening.
Wolves saw a 100th-minute decision go against them with Fabio Silva being penalised for a very similar reason as Hee-Chan Hwang did last week.
Gary Lineker gave his verdict on the decision already which saw him criticise VAR for a ‘stinking decision’.
The penalty call was so similar to last week’s against Newcastle that it is laughable and clearly referees didn’t heed Gary O’Neil’s warning.
The Wolves boss has now had his say on the latest decision which has gone against his side.

O’Neil on penalty call
Speaking in his post-game press conference, which Nathan Judah has quoted through several posts on X, O’Neil said: “I’ve been in with the referee and he still thinks it’s a penalty, that’s the worrying thing, we’re in a really bad place”.
“Don’t expect to get an apology from PGMOL I didn’t get one last week, so don’t expect to this week.”
“We’re 6 points down this season, 18 points instead of 12 is a big difference.
“For the referee to still think it’s a penalty is absolutely crazy we’re in a really bad spot.”
After being unlucky to concede the penalty, Silva left the field in tears, as fans were divided on his performance.
He has a right to be annoyed, Wolves have been hard done by
Given the regularity of these awful decisions being weekly now, it is easy to understand O’Neil’s rant about officials.
O’Neil has done such incredible work with Wolves to turn them from relegation candidates into now safely a mid-table side.
However, these persistent refereeing mistakes have undermined his good work which leaves Wolves not where they deserve to be.
