Pedro Neto isn’t universally loved by Wolves fans anymore, but one man who is certainly a fan is Gary O’Neil.
Last night Wolves were beaten by Chelsea in the Premier League, with the Blues running out 3-0 winners at Stamford Bridge.
It was another sorry performance from Wolves, who barely offered any kind of attacking threat, which has been a running theme this season.
It has been clear this season that Wolves have lacked players who are quick and direct.
And one man who is certainly all about those two things is Pedro Neto, who got Chelsea’s third goal at Stamford Bridge.
Neto left Chelsea in the summer of 2024 to join the Blues and after Saturday night’s result, Gary O’Neil paid the Portuguese a huge compliment.
Gary O’Neil says Pedro Neto is the best winger he’s ever worked with

Neto did anger some Wolves fans by celebrating his goal on Saturday.
The consensus for some was that Neto should have showed a little bit more respect to a club that helped him become the player he is today.
It is the second time Wolves fans have had a bone to pick with Neto, after he celebrated assisting Joao Felix’s goal at Molineux in Chelsea’s 6-0 win last term.
But one man who can’t speak highly enough of Neto is O’Neil, who was back in the Sky Sports studio last night to provide analysis on the game.
In his eyes, the Portuguese is the best winger he’s ever worked with.
He said: “The thing holding him (Estevao Willian) back is he’s got the best winger that I’ve ever worked with in Pedro Neto directly in front of him in his position. For Enzo Maresca, imagine having the pair of them to choose from. I know he’s going to have to balance the competitions.
“I know Chelsea, I’ve spoken to them a bit about how Pedro’s been doing, and they love him there. They love his work and what he does for the team.”
Wolves miss Neto so much

Neto may not be very popular with some Wolves fans anymore due to his celebrations against the Old Gold, but there can be no denying how much he is missed.
The 25-year-old was so dynamic during his time at Molineux, and was the kind of player who could create chances out of nothing with his blistering pace and dribbling.
| Pedro Neto for Wolves | Pedro Neto for Chelsea |
| Appearances – 135 | Appearances – 66 |
| Goals – 14 | Goals – 12 |
| Assists – 27 | Assists – 11 |
There was always a chance he would move on in the summer of 2024 and even last term, he was greatly missed. Certainly at the start, with O’Neil seeming to have no answers after losing Neto.
Right now, Wolves lack pace and players who thrive in those one-vs-one situations, and the Old Gold’s loss is very much Chelsea’s gain.
