Gary O’Neil has allayed fears about Craig Dawson, after the defender went off injured today in Wolves 2-1 win over Chelsea.
Wanderers beat the Blues 2-1, with Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty both on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Lemina was superb throughout, and nodded Wolves head midway through the second-half.
Wolves then found a second goal in injury-time through substitute Doherty and it looked as though that would be that.
But Chelsea then pulled one back through Christopher Nkunku to set up a tense finish. Thankfully though, Wolves were able to stand firm and hold on for the three bid points.
Wolves defended really well at times today, with Craig Dawson responsible for one of the standout moments of the game when he blocked a shot from Raheem Sterling.
Dawson then lay injured for some time, and was forced from the field with Santi Bueno replacing him.
Now, O’Neil has provided an update on Dawson…
Gary O’Neil says Craig Dawson’s injury was a ‘deep cut’, he could face Brentford

It was a very worrying sight to see Dawson stay down injured and then be helped off the pitch by two Wolves medics.
Him not leaving on a stretcher was something some fans held onto though, and thankfully, it does appear that Dawson’s injury is not serious.
O’Neil has provided an update on the player, and it turns out Dawson sustained a ‘deep cut’ to his leg, which needed stitches (via BBC Radio WM).
It’s possible that the centre-half could even play against Brentford on December 27.
Dawson the warrior
What a block it was from Dawson, and this update from O’Neil is a very big relief.
The 33-year-old has shown on a regular basis how important he is for Wolves and just makes the backline so much more solid when he plays. You can always count on him to throw his body in the way of things, even if it means he could come to harm. That is just the player he is, and Wolves are lucky to have someone like that.
It didn’t look good when he went off, so to learn he’s in contention to play against Brentford is fantastic news.
Should he fail to recover fully though, it would be nice to see Bueno come in as his replacement.
Opportunities for the Uruguay international have been hard to come by since he joined the club from Girona, and he could do with some minutes.
