Gary O’Neil gives a very welcome update about 27-year-old after Wolves’ 5-0 win over Blackpool

Wolves last night breezed into the third round of the Carabao Cup after beating Blackpool 5-0 – and after the game, Gary O’Neil gave a very encouraging update about Hwang Hee-chan.

Wanderers enjoyed a very comfortable night at Molineux against the League One side.

Sasa Kalajdzic got the ball rolling, following up his goal against Everton at the weekend.

Fabio Silva made it two, and Matt Doherty – making his second debut for the club – grabbed a brilliant brace.

And then, young Nathan Fraser – making his first-team debut – scored to cap off a great night.

It was nice to see Wolves enjoy a nice simply game of football given all the noise off the pitch at the moment.

And after the game, O’Neil provided supporters with some great news…

Hwang was substituted off at half-time against Everton on Saturday, and O’Neil said after the game that it was a hamstring issue.

But the problem is not serious, as confirmed by O’Neil after the match.

He is actually in contention to play against Crystal Palace on Sunday, something very few people probably expected.

Hwang news is big boost for Wolves

Many Wolves fans feared the worst when O’Neil said after the Everton game that Hwang had picked up a hamstring injury.

They are quite common for the South Korea international, being an explosive player.

During his time at Molineux, he’s had to miss several games as a result of hamstring issues.

But it looks as though he has managed to escape a serious injury this time.

It’s great news for Wolves. Hwang has been one of the brightest players for the team in the opening weeks of the season.

He has the potential to be really key for Wanderers going forwards, so it’s great he’s OK.
